Progress with exhibition piece today - umm, I did some yesterday, honest, but today? Well. let's see, did I...did I? Actually no, not a thing, nothing, zero, zip, despite earlier promises I procrastinated. I talked about what I needed to do, I'm even writing about it now, I've even got someone interested in a print when it's completed but I haven't done anything. I'm sorry, Sob!

Still I've done a picture..Billie Piper in pencil, still favouring the portrait rather than the caricature at the moment. I also thought I'd try something completely different and have always been fascinated by the Surf/tattoo style, hence my attempt based on a treble clef - if you hadn't spotted it.

Return to Doctor Who and a 70's icon

Billie PiperThought I'd have another attempt at Billie Piper, I've had several attempts but none that I've been remotely happy with. I'm still trying to improve the quick sketches and develop a caricature style. I think it's coming.

The second image is Donna Summer, again a quick one concentrating on Cartoon facial features.

Feeling more relaxed

Billie Piper 001 In all the chaos with printers yesterday I didn't write anything specific. I managed to get a nice loose picture of Billie Piper last night , It's the sort of style I'm trying to cultivate. Today's drawings have also been more successful than some recent attempts. I have been concentrating on freeing up the movements and trying to keeps lines to a minimum. I'm also trying to draw in ink first draft so it can be a bit frustrating - I think I've probably said that before. I also thought I'd try a bit of Manga, for a break, lots of fun and very satisfying. I might see if it's possible to caricature in Manga. The restrictions in style might make it difficult to get any sort of likeness but it will be fun to give it a go.
